The next Lowcountry Artist Market is less than a month away!

We've got MONSTERS!

Well, almost.  They are actually ridiculously cute stuffed animal plushy type monsters.  But monsters none the less.  These little guys are hand created by Caleigh Bird of Bird Flower Creations.  Kinda changes your feelings about monsters hiding under your bed.

A little info about Caleigh:

I love to create. Working with my hands gives me an inner peace I cannot describe.

I have been painting and crafting for basically my entire life- I was given watercolors when I was old enough to sit up! I love to make just about anything and have never run into a medium I didn't appreciate. Because of this love for experimentation, I may have random objects or designs on my page from time to time, but rest assured, everything I sell is 100% handmade by myself.

And that's not all Caleigh is making.  Check out her artwork:

This as a unique one-of-a-kind framed, signed piece of art.

I make and cut my own stencils, hand paint each background in acrylic on acid-free paper, airbrush my designs, then hand cut glass and frame the piece on thick cardstock with white rubber tape directly to the glass, making a frame. It comes securely backed and ready to hang.

Bead Who You Are Jewelry

Thanks to Meg Trott-McConnell from Bead Who You Are Jewelry for this guest post.

Meg started Bead Who You Are over five years ago and has been creating one-of-a-kind, handmade jewelry ever since.  Using sterling silver, semi-precious gemstones, pearls, wood and glass, Bead Who You Are is not to be missed!

Only a few weeks until the holiday Artist Market, and I can hardly wait! After seeing outstanding indie craft shows in NYC, Portland, and Raleigh, I was thrilled when Kristen started the Market in Charleston last year. It feels like we're finally on the map! It has been an amazing venue for artists to connect and for many of us to finally interact with our customers face-to-face. I love literally seeing Etsy come to life every few months and being able to put faces with each shop.

I've been making jewelry for over five years now, and am always looking for new inspiration. Sterling silver, gold, glass, and semi-precious stones are staples, but it's always fun coming up with ways to incorporate less traditional materials like applique, feathers, copper, and wood into a necklace or pair of earrings. I design pretty, unique, affordable pieces that reflect the individual's personality (hence the shop name "Bead Who You Are") and make great gifts. There's nothing cooler than seeing someone confidently wearing something I've made, whether it's a bride on her big day, or a returning customer at the Market. I hope you'll swing by and say hi next month at the show, or visit me online at www.BeadWhoYouAre.com to see more of my work. Thanks for shopping local!

Runaround Sue Vintage Boutique

So I stopped by Goodwill yesterday to pick up a few dishes to make on of these, and noticed lots of folks pillaging through the clothing.  Not having the patience that day to join in myself, I'm looking forward to having some vintage clothing right at my fingertips - thanks to Kelly Rae Smith of Runaround Sue Vintage Boutique

The idea and name of Runaround Sue was conceived several years ago on a lazy but creative Saturday in a flat on Constitution Street, Edinburgh, Scotland, with the help of a fellow vintage obsessive.
I have hand-picked each and every item listed from various cites in the US and Europe, some of which have been my very own, and hope to pass them on to someone who will love them all over again in a different city, for a different reason.

And its not just for the ladies.  Runaround Sue has a vintage for men section with western shirts, sweaters, jackets and even bowling shirts:

Or maybe you need something to play dress up in:

Or to wear to a tacky sweater party:

Whatever you're looking for in the vintage world, Runaround Sue Vintage Boutique has it!  Check her out at the Lowcountry Artist Market on November 19th!

Add Libb Designs

I've never been a girl that had to have 8000 things in her purse at any given time.  Maybe its because I don't have kids yet.  Or because I refuse to apply make up more than once a day ... in any case, it makes a clutch my favorite purse.  And local designed Libby Ganong of Add Libb Designs gives me MANY options.

Charleston handmade gifts by Add libb Designs exhibit a unique combination of funky fabric, eye-catching leathers and vintage to modern appliques.

From conceiving our own signature patterns and design styles, to sourcing materials, and sewing seams, everything is done in house.

Add Libb Designs offers a truly handmade

and exclusive product that speaks to a signature perspective on artistic fashion accessories.

I'm not the only one who loves Add Libb though; they were featured in Southern Living Magazine's "Best of the South" section.   Be sure to look for Add Libb Designs at the Lowcountry Artist Market on November 19th at the Music Farm!

Love Thy Neighbor Designs

Love Thy Neighbor Designs, comprised of Bonnie Scapellato and Beth Williams, makes artfully inspired, hand-appliqued baby and children's clothing. We customize each garment by shaping, tailoring, layering and sewing all our designs, resulting in a unique, quality product. Some pieces are further embellished with colorful hand-stitching.

And just in time for Halloween, they've created these adorable pieces:
We are friends... We are next-door neighbors... We are artists with a lifelong passion for creating... We love design, fashion, and working with our hands... We are also mothers of beautiful children... We want to reflect the joy of our blessings and love our neighbors in practical ways... We want to give back! As such, 10% of our profits go to organizations committed to loving vulnerable children around the world.

Neve Inspired

Meet Bob & Kris Galmarini, founders of Neve Inspired, who create handmade children's clothing in their home studio:

Neve Inspired is unique, handmade clothes for our little ladies and lads. We feel inspired to do this and have so much fun coming up with and executing the designs in our home. We think (hope!) this labor of love comes across in each piece, and that your kids will have as much fun wearing it as we have had making it.

They are a super cute family.  And the clothes are just as adorable.

The Sibling
We screen print all our super soft t-shirts by hand in a home studio converted from what used to be our master bedroom. Our process is collaborative: we come up with and execute the designs together. Bob does most of the screen printing, Kris sews, and our kids, Neve and Shep, hang out and provide inspiration.

Oh, you should probably meet Neve:

Be on the lookout for a guest post from Kris soon, as Neve Inspired is making a few changes ...

Guest Post from Le Papillon Vert

Evita Smith from Le Papillon Vert was nice enough to cover the Lowcountry Artist Market on her blog.  Check out her amazing accessories:

I am taking a Saturday off from the Farmers Market on November 19th to participate in the next Lowcountry Farmers Market at the Music Farm. You can like their Facebook page and RSVP for the event here. I’m looking forward to being with fellow Etsy artists.

I will have the accessories that I’ve been working on for a while now as well as introducing some new products. I am going keep those under wraps until closer to the show date. Speaking of new pieces, here are a few that I’ve uploaded to Etsy.

More will be showing up during the week as I work on images and descriptions!

Jill Lauren Handmade Knits

I am so ready for Fall.  More specifically, Fall weather.  Boots, cider, pumpkin spiced EVERYTHING, and scarves.  Lots and lots of scarves.  You'll have the chance to choose from a variety of scarves, headbands, wraps, and hand warmers from Jill Lauren Handmade Knits at the Lowcountry Artist Market on Nov 19.

Here's a little from Jill about how she began knitting:

I love to knit and I love to shop handmade! I learned to knit 10 years ago when I was in the Peace Corps in Russia. I bought some yarn at the market and the little old lady who lived next door to me taught me to knit. I knit many scarves in Russia and when I returned I took a few classes and have been knitting ever since! I love designing new things, everything in my shop is an original design. I also love to shop for vintage items to include in my knitting, especially buttons.

Check her out on Etsy and Facebook to see more of her amazing work.  She's also offered to do a little guest blogging for us, so stay tuned.  And of course don't miss Jill Lauren Handmade Knits at the Lowcountry Artist Market on Nov 19!
